It is best to place the search engine box in the area with the greatest visibility. This section allows users to quickly navigate to the desired pages by placing the search box there.
Many people visit large eCommerce websites with a specific goal in mind. They want to find a particular item in the store by using the search feature. Imagine users are unable to find the item quickly and easily on the search results page. If this happens, there is a high chance that visitors will leave the site and decrease its profitability.
Also, it is important to consider the power of mental models and habit. Users are used to searching for information on websites that include search in their headers.
Visitors will also likely not use the search function if the area is hidden below the fold (the part of the page visible only after scrolling down or in the footer).
