Can we make a game on PowerPoint?

Yes, you can make a game on PowerPoint. With PowerPoint’s built-in tools and functions, such as animations, transitions and shapes, it is possible to create interactive games with text and graphics that are both engaging and visually appealing. Depending on the complexity of the game you want to make, you may need additional software or skills in working with audio/visual elements. Once complete, these PowerPoint games can be used in classrooms or as activities for presentations or team building exercises.

Creating a game on PowerPoint requires careful planning beforehand to determine what type of game will be created and how its various features will work together. It’s also important to consider the audience before starting any development so that the finished product is something they would enjoy playing. Additionally, testing the game out a few times before presenting it to an audience is highly recommended. This will help ensure that all of the elements work properly, and that any potential bugs have been eliminated.

With a little bit of creativity and some time dedicated to learning the necessary skills, anyone can create a great game experience on PowerPoint. So give it a try and see what you can come up with.

How to make a game on PowerPoint?

Method one.

The next step is to create the game. To do this, start by creating a new slide for each “level” of your game, as well as slides for titles, instructions and any other necessary components. You can use PowerPoint’s built-in design tools to customize your slides however you like.

Next, insert objects such as shapes (for buttons or triggers) and images onto each slide that the player can interact with in order to progress through the levels of the game. You will also need to add animations so that these objects react when clicked on. For example, if an image of a door is clicked on, then it could open or move out of view with an animation effect.

Once you have added all of your objects and animations, you need to add the programming that will link everything together. To do this, you can use PowerPoint’s built-in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) language. VBA allows you to write code that reacts to user input such as mouse clicks or key presses and performs certain tasks according to what the player has done.

Once you have written your code, it is time to test the game out and make sure that everything works as intended. If there are any errors or bugs in the game, then they must be fixed before the finished product can be released.

By following these steps, you will be able to create a functioning game using PowerPoint! With some creativity and ingenuity, you can create a game that is both fun and engaging for your players.

Method two.

We need to create a table that contains two types of information in order to make a game board. These are categories, subjects, and scores. Let’s take a look at how it works.

  • You have two options when designing a table: either add a PowerPoint table to your design or create a series using square shapes. So you can decide which one to use, we will show you both. Let’s start by making a table!
  • The table could have different values. It will still have 5×4 cells for this tutorial. In the toolbar, click on Insert. Select Table to choose the dimensions.
  • Now you know how to make a game board using a table. It’s now time to learn how to make a board with shapes.
  • Click on Insert and select Shapes. Because they are the subjects or themes, the shapes in the first row must be larger than the rest.
  • You can create rectangles by copying and pasting them. Click on the shape and drag it while you press Ctrl/Cmd in Mac. Voila!
  • You can edit the rectangle however you like. You can use the Shape Fill, Shape Outline, and Shape Effects options. This will allow you to add shadows to the rectangles. Remember to keep the theme colors in mind.
  • It’s time to fill in the rectangles. Double-click on each rectangle to add text. You can modify the font style by selecting it and using the Font tools in our toolbar.

Designing the clue slides

As we’re dealing with English, we will add a “clue” slide on literary genres. This type of game has the answer or clue first, and then the question slides. The example below has three possible answers. Click on the correct answer to move to the next slide.

  • Click on Insert – Text box to insert a title. Then click and drag the title to create it. You can edit the text using the Font and Font Size features.
  • Add another text box to describe the literary genre.
  • Designing the clue slide

  • Add another textbox to describe the literary genre.
  • To decorate the slide, add some illustrations! Copy the slides from the slide Alternative resources and paste them into the clue slide (Ctrl V or Cmd+ V in Mac).
  • Our example is an interactive template. We have elements that can direct you to other slides. We will use icons that function as buttons in this example. We have created a house, right arrow, and book. You need to connect them to the game board slide. The next slide is the subject slide.
  • These images can be added to our editable icons slide by copying and pasting. Just press Ctrl+C (copy) or Ctrl+V (paste), or Cmd+C (copy) and then Ctrl+V (paste), on Mac. You might find How to Add or Modify Icons difficult? Take a look at this tutorial!

Use hyperlinks to connect

This is almost done! We now need to make the presentation interactive by adding hyperlinks.

  • Let’s start with the slide for the game board. Click on the subject button. In our case, it is the “English” one. Go to Insert – Link – Place in this Document. Click on OK to select the cover slide for the subject.
  • Next, we will deal with the score buttons. In this example we will link the slide “30 Points”. Click on Insert – Link – Place in this Document. Click on OK to close the slide titled “clue”.
  • Continue the process with the remaining subjects and scores.
  • Navigate to the “English Section” slide. There are four buttons. Click on each button and click Insert – Link. Next, click on Insert – Link and then choose Place in This Document. Select OK.
  • Make sure to link all the icons in the slide. Let’s start with the clue slide.
  • Click on the home icon to open it. Then, click in Insert. Next, click Link and Place in this Document. We need to link it with the slide within this presentation. Click on the game board slide and select OK.
  • Next, you will see the right arrow. This will take you to the next slide. Click on the icon. Select Insert again and then click on the icon. Click OK to finish. The open book is the last icon. It is necessary to link it to the subject slide. Click on it and go to Insert – Link – Place in this Document. Select the slide “English”, or any other subject slide. To apply the hyperlink, click OK.

Done, enjoy your PowerPoint game.
